Mabon, Autumn Equinox, Let’s Reflect

It’s that time of year here in the Northern Hemisphere where the green leaf hues begin to turn those amazing bright yellow, orange and red colors. The air is cooling, the sun sinks lower, and the dark of night comes a little earlier each day. Summer has come to an end, it’s harvest season.

This is a great time of reflection and gratitude. What seeds did you plant at the beginning of the year? What intensions did you set? Take a moment to reflect and see where you are, and what has transpired.

What has been showing up for you? What have you felt challenged by? What aspects of your life are easy and in flow? What aspects of your life are not? Can you thank the Universe for all these blessings no matter what or how you perceive them to be?

This year Autumn Equinox falls on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at 12:21pm PST. Like the Spring, it’s the equal balance of light and dark. This is the perfect moment to center yourself in meditation or ritual ceremony, tune into your heart and feel gratitude for this amazing life, no matter what is going on in the world around you,

Go inward and begin to clear space for what is to come next year. Through emptying your mind, and tuning into your silence, can you then expand into the greater vision of your future. This vista on your personal journey is where we activate our next cycle for growth.

Following Lammas, Mabon is the second harvest of the year. With Samhain being the third. Although all Sabbats are times to express gratitude for our blessings, it is central to Mabon because we are at the height of the harvest season.

A great way to physically bring yourself into a state of gratitude is to spend 1 – 3 minutes in a yogic child’s pose. In child’s pose we bring our hearts below our heads, internally affecting our own bodies to bring us into a state of humility. Be grateful for all that you have, all that you are, all that you experience. Love Your Life!

Ways to Honor and Celebrate Mabon

  • Adorn your altar with the colors of the season and items that reflect your gratitude
